I am very aware of the internet junk mail problem, I get enough junk email myself. I am not going to be giving out your email address to anybody. All your personal information is kept secure. Using PayPal I never know your credit card details, that is information you set up with PayPal once which significantly reduces your risk each time you purchase using PayPal. One of the things I like about PayPal, which I think offsets some of the hassle involved in originally setting up your account.
I am not intending to be sending you emails every week either. Occasionally I develop some new products or modify current lines based on feedback from people using my products. So I put together a bit of a news letter every couple of months and send it to customers who want to keep up to date with what is going on. That is as complicated as it gets.
