Jonathan and Barbara Geddes
have worked with the Mursi people as missionaries for over 13 years. They
have been back in Australia since 2004 so their children could finish High
School and to further their studies. The Geddes are going back to visit
their friends and encourage the Mursi people and young church. In some
ways the rest of us are just along for the ride. We can't speak the language
like the Geddes, we don't have friends to visit, yet. We don't know much about
the culture. We are going to help support the Geddes as they seek to build
up their Mursi friends and encourage them.
There are also the many maintenance jobs that need doing. The SAME tractor which was used to repair the road and airfield has been broken down for nearly two years. We are taking parts and will be repairing it. We can then use it to work on the road and airfield. Also building maintenance required. We won't run out of jobs.
I think there will be plenty to do. Hopefully we also make time to get to know the people and learn from them. I am sure they will have some things to teach us that will be very valuable to our fast paced materialistic western life. |
