Praise God who “holds the
heart of the King in his hand and directs it where he wants”:
- Pray specifically for the interpreters that
will be going with the guys. Their names are
Lisa
Zavgorodneya, Olga Agapova, Igor Bogomol.
They may not have had opportunity to hear of Jesus so pray that the team
will be able to share with them during the time they spend together.
Thank the Lord:
-
for
motivating the Russian Mayor to invite Finnish Christians to visit the
Communist children's’ camps in his area back in the early ‘90s;
-
and for the
faithfulness of the Finns who took up this opportunity to reach those
children so wholeheartedly;
-
and for the camp
directors who saw deep needs being met for the children and asked the
Finns to come back and stay for longer;
-
and that the work
has now spread from
St Petersburg across the
country.
-
for the Finnish
Christians in
Canberra who started sending people regularly
from here to Russian childrens’camps in 1995
-
for Jenny
Armstrong’s opportunity to go there with Troupe Fish and for the lasting
impact it has had on her and, through Jenny, on many others here at BBC
and in Russia
-
for Kids’ Outreach
International who now oversee the work and for its Executive Director,
Kari Lehelma, who faithfully
goes ahead from
Canberra each year to prepare
the way.
Ask Jesus:
-
to
give space and calmness among the many distractions of busy life for the
Russian Team to think about what still needs to be done in preparation
-
that
they will be able to focus on the main reason for their going
-
for
Jenny, especially, as team leader, to be given wisdom and strength to
get through all she needs to plan programs and activities
Pray for:
-
for
safety in travel for the whole Russian Team as they fly on Sunday June
10th from
Sydney to Hong Kong and then on to
Helsinki
-
for their bags to
all arrive intact and in
Helsinki (not
Johannesburg) and at the
same time as they do
-
that in
Helsinki they will have
wisdom and energy, despite jet lag,
to know what to buy and to carry out the necessary preparations
there
-
for the rail
journey across into
Russia and that
customs checks and immigration clearances will go smoothly
-
that the Russia Team
would establish good relationships with staff both that they would know
more of God’s love and that they’ll allow lots of access to the children
in the camp
-
for
close and harmonious working relationships with the Russian interpreters
who are so important to facilitating clear communications with the
children and camp staff
-
for wisdom and
patience in dealing with the officials who need to approve visas and
permits, and that God will move their hearts to cooperate and see God’s
love in the team members
Ask our Father:
-
that He will fill
the Russian Team with His love for all who they encounter and for loving
relationships with the children
-
that
they’ll live as Jesus wants them to and have the courage and wisdom to
act and speak out at the right times of opportunity
-
that people will
see God’s love and care for them through the Team and will be drawn to
seek Jesus
Pray that:
-
the
Russian Team will build each other up and grow together
-
that they’ll have
eyes open and servant hearts to meet each other’s needs
-
for them to be
greatly blessed and to be a great blessing to many
-
for this to be a
life-changing experience for all of them
-
for Karen Green’s
shoulder to recover full function and not cause pain for her during the
trip
